IF you’d like to feed your soul some spirit-lifting music and help a good cause at the same time, grab your diary and jot down this fundraiser because it promises to be a good one.
Called Soul Food, the concert will be staged on Sunday 16 February in Kendall and is a fundraiser for the Hastings Group of the Australian Breastfeeding Association.
The line-up includes the vocal ensemble Wednesday, vocalists Rose Wilson, Kate Hartley and Jehni Sheyan and instrumentalists Lydia Wills, Carol Irving, Mandy Lee, Lesley Priest and Adam Bishop.
The music and singing is sure to be of professional standard because all are well known performers, many with high-level professional training.
“There will be a real range of styles, from jazz, to classical, folk and choral music,” said vocalist Rose Wilson, who is also a member of the breastfeeding association and helping organise the event.
“It’s always a great afternoon and previous concerts have raised funds to allow the group to purchase equipment.”
The concert will kick off at 2pm at the Kendall School of Arts, 19 Comboyne Street. Tickets can be purchased at the door but if you want to be sure of a seat, please contact Rose to pre-book.
The cost is $15 for an adult, concession $10 and children under five are free. Afternoon tea will be available by donation. There is a play area at the back of the hall for the smaller children.
