THE Yarning our Country knitted landscape project is currently on display at Port Macquarie Library in celebration of NSW Seniors Week.
The Yarning our Country project is just one of a few events supported by Council as part of NSW Seniors Week, which runs from 15-23 March.
Over 200 knitters, varying from the ages of 5 to 101 from all over NSW have combined efforts to showcase their creative talents as part of the event.
Some of the displays include knitted vines and plants in a rainforest, a waterfall flowing to a pool in a bush landscape with native plants and animals and more. There is also an aerial view of farmland and a garden and picnic scene.
Just to add to the impressive display, all animals, plants, trees, people, machinery, grass, buildings, etc are knitted in 3D.
The council’s community development group manager Lucilla Marshall said the council was pleased to see the display in Port Macquarie. It follows the theme of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s 2012 Granny knitted project which won the NSW Local Government Arts and Culture Award.
Ms Marshall said the display was truly whimsical and a great depiction of NSW.
The knitted rural landscape will remain on display until Saturday 22 March.
