THE Flickerfest Festival will be bringing its spectacular short films to the Glasshouse again this year, screening a smorgasbord of Australian short films.
Celebrating 23 years, Flickerfest remains Australia’s only academy-accredited and BAFTA-recognised short film festival, ensuring that Flickerfest continues to present ‘A’ list short film programs recognised among the best in the world.
More than 2300 entries were received for Flickerfest 2014, and only 120 shorts selected in official competition, all handpicked to represent the most innovative, creative and cutting-edge short films being produced in the world today.
“Flickerfest is a great opportunity for our local community to see an entertaining, inspiring and award-winning range of shorts – some of the hottest short films in the world today,” performing arts program manager Belinda Gibson said.
“Last year was a sell-out so I strongly advise people not to wait too long to secure their seats for Flickerfest 2014 at the Glasshouse.”
The Glasshouse will be screening the Best Of Australian Shorts which features Vote Yes set in May 1967 and focusing on Australia’s referendum on Aboriginal rights, as two women unite and come to terms with the prospect of change.
As part of Flickerfest’s national partnership with ABC Open, prior to the Flickerfest screening, the Glasshouse will screen a film by ABC Open producer Wiriya Sati, with assistance from ABC Open contributors Ashley Davies, Brett Dolsen and Rhonda Radley.
Flickerfest will be screening on Saturday 15 March, from 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Glasshouse box office, phone 6581 8888 or visit www.glasshouse.org.au.
