PORT Macquarie High School Science teacher Marion Napier was among 26 teachers from the region presented with a certificate of recognition for their services to education.
The Australian College of Educators arranged the awards to celebrate World Teachers Day.
Mrs Napier was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the teaching of agriculture at the high school. Under Mrs Napier’s guidance, agriculture has flourished, with student numbers in Year 8, 9 and 10 consistently contributing full classes. The Cows Create Careers Program is one of the programs she has fully embraced.
This has resulted in a school cattle team regularly winning awards at local and regional cattle shows as well as the Royal Easter Show.
Mrs Napier was on her way to Scone where her class was competing in a competition when the awards were being presented. Her certificate was accepted on her behalf by acting school principal Darryl Mason.
