Bonsai – a little fun

THE next two weekends will be full of bonsai for those who love this ancient art form, with the Wauchope bonsai group’s monthly meeting followed by their annual show.
The meeting is on Saturday, 12 October, commencing at 10am and going until about 2pm in the Rotary Hall, Oxley Lane, Wauchope.
One of the highlights will be a presentation on the classic bonsai species, black pines.
Visitors are welcome and the group is an excellent way to learn how to create your own bonsai, or to care for the ones you already have.
The group’s annual show will be held at Port Panthers on Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 October. The show will feature more than 40 of the best trees, which will be displayed using both traditional and contemporary settings.
The show includes a sales table, raffle, and two demonstrations per day (11 and 2pm Saturday, and 11 and 1pm Sunday).
