Film fest hits the big screens

THE Travelling Film Festival will be coming to Port Macquarie for the first time from 18-20 October at Majestic Cinemas.
The inaugural Travelling Film Festival Mid North Coast opens with the new Australian crime drama Mystery Road, which had its world premiere on opening night of this year’s Sydney Film Festival and has since been selected for Toronto and London film festivals.
In this astonishing and mesmerising new film, writer-director Ivan Sen (Toomelah; Beneath Clouds) uses the conventions of the Western and the police procedural in a subtle examination of the social and political context of an outback town.
Producer David Jowsey will be in Port Macquarie on opening night and take questions from the audience after the screening, followed by complementary opening night drinks (courtesy of sponsor Eden Road).
“It’s a great pleasure being involved in the Sydney Film Festival Touring Program to experience your film being played to film lovers around the country is a fabulous experience,” Mr Jowsey said.
TFF Mid North Coast includes an impressive line-up of critically acclaimed films including: Australia’s official submission for the 86th Academy Awards – The Rocket. The festival program also includes official selections from the Berlin and Sydney film festivals: Gloria and Sundance documentary Blackfish. The TFF will close in Nambucca Heads with the hit Spanish comedy A Gun in Each Hand and in Port Macquarie with the bright and breezy fable Frances Ha.
Majestic Cinemas CEO Kieren Dell said he was proud to be able to offer such a stellar line-up of films in the newly expanded cinemas in Port Macquarie, as well as their cinemas in Nambucca Heads.
“We look forward to welcoming David as our special guest with some Mid North Coast hospitality. It is always much appreciated by our local audiences when filmmakers make the effort to visit regional areas.”
