THE Wauchope Patchwork and Quilting group are again holding a girls’ night in to help raise funds for the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon campaign.
The event will be held on Tuesday 22 October at the Wauchope Rotary Hall, starting at 6pm.
Last year a similar event raised $1890 and the organisers are hoping to surpass this.
“The night pulls us all together socially and we can have a bit of fun while raising much needed funds for gynaecological and breast cancer research,” organiser Barbara Collins said.
“I see so many young women aged in their early forties presenting with breast cancer at the hospital. Just so many people are touched by cancer and this spurred me on to hold this.”
A best-dressed Miss Pink Pyjamas competition will set the theme for the night, which organisers promise will be packed with fun, food, laughter and prizes. A stunning quilt will also be raffled as first prize and will be drawn on the night.
October is Cancer Council’s breast and gynaecological cancer awareness month, the pink ribbon being the international symbol of support. Numerous fundraising events are being held during the month, culminating in Pink Ribbon Day on Friday 25 October.
