NINE people have died on roads across NSW over the October long weekend, but police say in Port Macquarie the weekend was uneventful.
There were no major accidents and only a few minor break-and-enters, assaults and drink-driving offences.
“Overall people were pretty well behaved and I’d describe it as fairly good,” a spokesperson said.
The death toll of nine is five more than in the same period last year, although the figures for the whole year to date are down on last year.
In the northern police command, which runs from Gosford to Byron Bay, there were 74 crashes, with three people killed and 30 injured.
Sixty-five people were also charged with drink driving. No breakdown was available on the Port Macquarie statistics.
