RESIDENTS are reminded that information sessions are being held this month for community groups interested in applying for a community grant.
The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will be making about $180,000 available through its 2014/15 Community Grants Program with a first round of funding in May (to be distributed in July/August 2014) and a second in October.
Residents wanting to apply for a grant will need to attend one of several information sessions being held in Laurieton, Wauchope and Port Macquarie.
The two-hour sessions are designed to help people complete their application forms correctly and improve their chances of submitting a successful application.
Funding will be offered in five different categories including general community grants, place making, non-council owned halls, environmental and Christmas and New Year’s Eve events.
Place making is a new category included this year aimed at creating safe, vibrant public spaces where people feel a strong sense of ownership and an attachment to the community as a result of that space.
Sessions will be taking place at council’s administration centre in Port Macquarie on 14 April (11am-1pm), 28 April (5pm-7pm) and 30 April (11am-1pm). There will also be sessions at Laurieton Library on 16 April (11am-1pm) and 1 May (5pm-7pm) and at the Wauchope Senior Citizens’ Centre on 17 April (11am-1pm) and 22 April (5pm-7pm).
