TACKING Points Lions Club has a new president and board.
The club held its annual changeover dinner at Port Panthers in late June and the dinner was a roaring success.
More than 60 people attended, including Port Macquarie-Hastings Deputy Mayor Adam Roberts, who also addressed the gathering and emphasised the contribution his club has made to the Hastings community.
He said the community would be the poorer if not for the distribution of $34,000 to local individuals and organisations in need, and more than 6000 hours of volunteer work, an outstanding achievement for a club of only 39 members.
A pre-cursor to the hand-over ceremony was the presentation of awards by outgoing Lions president Al Philp, the most important award being the Lion of the Year award decided by Lions members.
The very popular and hard-working Lion Jill Adams was stunned, but delighted, when Al Philp announced her name to huge applause.
The main event was the handing over of the badges of office by the outgoing president to the incoming president, Lion Stuart Aston, together with the installation of the board by vice-district-governor Peter Mercer.
