Family fun day on again

NATIONAL Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week events are now well underway in the Hastings – but the best is still to come.
The Hastings NAIDOC Family Fun Day – always a highlight – will be held at the Port Macquarie racecourse from 10am to 2pm today.
There will be something for everyone including a welcome to country, face painting, bush tuckers tastings, traditional dancing, a jumping castle and free lunch.
The Aboriginal Men’s Annual NAIDOC Golf Challenge will also be held at the Wauchope Golf Club tomorrow from 9.30am.
The theme of the week this year is ‘Serving Country – Centenary and Beyond’ honouring all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who have fought in defence of country.
The week started on Monday with a flag raising ceremony at the Town Green cenotaph carried out by Australian Defence Force cadets. Other events included an Aboriginal Youth Touch Challenge.
