GRAB the dancing shoes and get ready to put the best foot forward!
The Big Dance is coming to Port Macquarie this Sunday and interest from would-be dancers has been so keen that AusDance has scheduled another practice workshop this Saturday.
The extra workshop will be held on Saturday 12 July between 2pm and 3.30pm on the Glasshouse forecourt.
The Big Dance itself will take place on Sunday 13 July in association with similar events in Sydney and London, with rehearsals starting at 9.15am and the main performance at 10am, again on the Glasshouse forecourt.
Anyone who would like to attend the workshop and the Big Dance is asked to register on bigdanceportmacquarie.eventbrite.com.au.
Once registered participants will be able to access an online teaching video of the short routine that has been especially choreographed for the day by the Sydney Dance Company.
One hundred and fifty people have already registered to take part, but organisers are hoping that that number will swell to more than 200 over the next couple of days.
Children from the Bago Magic performers are among the many who have already embraced the opportunity and they will feature in the local video which will be posted on the Big Dance international website.
Big Dance is a biennial event that began in the UK in 2006 and has quickly grown into an international dance sensation, with more than 2 million people around the world taking part since it began.
Port Macquarie and Bega are the only two regional areas in Australia participating, the other locations being the Opera House in Sydney and London and Glasgow in the UK.
Arts Mid North Coast managed to secure the Big Dance for Port Maquarie after attending a meeting at which AusDance, a partner in the Big Dance this year, made a presentation about the event.
