Hearts reach out for Finn

McGrath Real Estate is one of the first businesses to book a table for the dinner. McGrath sales agent Lisa Crispim, left, and principal Todd Bates, far right, are pictured here with the Reynolds/White family of Nick White, Tracey Reynolds, Montana and, in front, Jack, Finn and Amelia.

A FUND-RAISING dinner will be held early next month for the young boy whose story touched hearts when it was featured on the front page of the Independent on 10 April.
Finn Reynolds, aged five, was born 13 weeks prematurely and suffers from severe cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia.
He is wheelchair bound and unable to sit up, crawl, walk or eat independently.
His mother, Tracey, has had to give up her job to care for him and her other children and her marriage foundered under the strain.
She and her husband, Nick White, also lost their house and vehicle because of Finn’s medical bills and ongoing expenses.
Tracey said local ex-first-grader footballer Danny Dumas approached her suggesting the dinner and several friends of his still playing first-grade NRL were expected to donate memorabilia for a fun auction to be held during the evening.
Ex-Olympian Jana Pitman has also promised to donate some signed souvenirs.
Other attractions include fake betting/races with a bookie and a photo booth.
Tracey said they were hoping to raise $6000 for a standing frame and $400 for wheelchair wheel covers to prevent Finn getting his fingers caught in the wheelchair spokes.
The dinner will be on Saturday 5 July at Panthers which has donated the use of The Pier room.
The three-course meal will cost $60 a head, which includes one complimentary bottle of red and white wine per table of 10.
Tracey is hoping to fill at least 13 tables.
