A PORT Macquarie man has had his vehicle impounded for three months after being caught allegedly speeding by more than 45km/h.
Taree Highway Patrol officers were alerted about 4pm on Thursday when a car passed an unmarked police vehicle, allegedly being driven at high speed.
They detected the silver Holden Barina travelling south at Possums Brush, allegedly at 140km/h in the 100km/h zone.
A pursuit was initiated and continued south, purported reaching speeds of up to almost 160km/h.
The pursuit ceased when road spikes were deployed at Bulahdelah and a 24-year-old Port Macquarie man was arrested.
He was taken to Taree Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit, drive at speed dangerous, exceed speed by more than 45km/h and drive while suspended.
The man was refused bail to appear in Taree Local Court on Friday and at that appearance the man was once again refused bail and remanded in custody to re-appear in Taree Local Court on Monday 16 June.
As the vehicle was owned by the charged driver, it has been impounded for three months.
