THE Beatles are coming to the Hastings!
Well, not really, but we’re certain to be in for a good dose of all things associated with the Fab Four when the Hastings Beatles Festival kicks off this Saturday.
Building on the success of the inaugural event last year, the Port Macquarie Tourism Association has organised a busy schedules of events starting this Saturday and running through until the following Sunday.
Events kick off with a dance featuring The Chevrolets at Port Macquarie Panthers on Saturday 15 February. Next cab off the rank is a Beatles trivia night at the Wauchope RSL on Thursday 20 February, followed by the Beatle Magic show is on at the Laurieton United Services Club on Friday 21 February.
On Saturday and Sunday 22 and 23 February there will be a classic car show at Westport Park, running from 10am to 3pm on the Saturday and Sunday 22 and 23 February. The latter includes entertainment and rock and roll dancers and the Lions are doing the world’s biggest barbecue.
Popular tribute band The Beatnix will be playing all the old Beatles classics at a dance party at Port Macquarie Panthers on Saturday 22 February.
Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association president Janette Hyde said they were definitely aiming for bigger and better than last year’s festival.
“There is so much to see and do, especially with the weekend events at Westport park,” she said.
“It would be great if everyone who can really gets into the spirit of it and dress up in a Beatles theme.”
Mrs Hyde said there was something about the Beatles that transcended the ages.
“A lot of groups come and go but the Beatles will be here forever,” she said.
