IF you’ve ever wanted to try golf but haven’t quite got around to it, now’s your chance – at least if you’re a female.
Port Macquarie Lady Golfers are staging their inaugural pink jacket day at the Port Macquarie Golf Club on Monday 24 February.
For $20 all inclusive, you can enjoy a nine-hole fun competition followed by nibbles and champagne.
Golfers will be divided into teams, with at least one experienced golfer in each four-person team. Even if you have never played golf before it doesn’t matter, because everyone will get four hits of their ball from the position of the best ball of the team.
The winning player will get their name embroidered on a pink jacket, which will be passed on to the next winner each year.
Club publicity officer Anne-Marie Farrelly said the event was an initiative to attract new players.
“It’s an ideal chance to find out what it’s all about,” she said.
“Golf is a really fun game to play, and membership and green fees are very affordable,” she said.
“You can also get group lessons from the club instructor so learning does not have to be too expensive.
“Everyone makes you very welcome at the club and you get lots of positive feedback, so even when you just start out it’s fun.”
