Town Green revamp plan

Town Green - in for a "significant facelift".

THE draft master plan for Port Macquarie’s Town Green will go on public exhibition from tomorrow until 6 April.
The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is inviting the community to provide comments on the draft plan, which includes proposals for a significant facelift of the popular riverfront area.
Community feedback on the draft plan will be considered by the council in confirming and endorsing a concept for the Town Green into the future. The endorsement of a concept plan will allow the detailed design and construction staging/planning to commence.
The council’s infrastructure delivery group manager Gary Randall said the council had undertaken an extensive process of community engagement regarding the Town Green improvement concepts since the adoption of the Town Green Master Plan in 1996.
“Community input into this vital part of the plan is crucial to its development into what is clearly one of its most cherished public spaces,” Mr Randall said.
The draft plan covers the area on Town Green between Short Street, Sunset Parade and Horton Street and the section of Horton Street north of Clarence Street (proposed site of the Town Square).
Copies of the draft master plan will be on exhibition on the council’s website and at its offices and libraries in Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton.
Project manager Michaela Sisk will also be able to answer any questions to ensure a better understanding of the plan. Michaela can be contacted on 6581 8073 or email michaela.sisk@pmhc.nsw.gov.au.
