Wauchope’s purple patch

Get shopping at the Purple People Shopping and Market Day in the Wauchope CBD today.

WAUCHOPE’S Lasiandra Festival may be off and running, but there’s still time to catch many of the events because the festival will run until the end of the month.
In fact, today is one of the biggest days, with a Purple People Shopping and Market Day in the Wauchope CBD.
“There will be bargains a plenty with sidewalk specials from participating businesses and art and craft market stalls in operation from 8.30am to 5pm,” a spokesperson for the festival committee said.
The fun continues on Saturday 15 March with the Lasiandra Festival Rock ‘n’ Roll Show to be held once again in the Wauchope Country Club auditorium from 7pm. Entry is $ 5 per adult with kids under 18 free.
Other ever-popular events on the calendar include a Hastings River Greyhound Club race day and Timbertown Preschool Purple and Pink Day.
This year is the festival’s 30th anniversary and a special celebratory dinner has been organised to mark the occasion. This will be at the Wauchope RSL Club on Saturday 29 March from 6pm. Anyone who has been part of the festival over the years is invited to attend. The cost is $30 per head and pre-booking is essential.
Events already staged include a bowls competition, family fun day, disco and fashion parade.
