A STUNNING line-up of shows will be coming to the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie next year.
Late last week the Glasshouse released its performing arts program, which will feature some of Australia’s most internationally renowned companies and performers.
“Every year, we aim to present a diverse range of high-quality performances that would not otherwise come to our region and the 2014 season is developed to enable our community to have big-city experiences,” performing arts program manager Belinda Gibson said.
“We offer such a diverse range there is bound to be something to please the theatre and opera lovers, comedy devotees, film buffs, music aficionados and even children.
“We have provided matinees and Sunday-afternoon shows to enable everyone to access our shows at convenient times and prices.”
“In addition to putting shows on this stage, over half the companies coming to the Glasshouse as part of the 2014 season program will actively contribute to education and development opportunities in our community.”
This year they are also integrating the theatre season with the gallery and bringing a new experience to the Glasshouse – a virtual orchestra.
“Gallery visitors will be surrounded by sound and projections of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and able to control the orchestra at will via a touch-screen,” Ms Gibson said.
“This is a truly unique and interactive experience that will fascinate young and old alike.”
Companies and performers booked for next year include: Oz Opera, Bell Shakespeare, the Sydney Dance Company, Perth Theatre Company, international opera star David Hobson, musical theatre star Rachel Beck, flautist Jane Rutter, Flickerfest, TaikOz and the blockbuster Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The Glasshouse 2014 shows are on sale now for Glasshouse Friends Members until 1 December (inclusive). The membership program provides discounts on select theatre and gallery events, box office services, priority booking periods and a 20 per cent discount in the Glasshouse shop.
