Robbery charges

A MAN has been charged over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a bank at Laurieton last week.
Police allege that about 12.20pm on Thursday a 55-year-old man entered the bank on Bold Street and threatened staff, claiming to have a syringe.
The man allegedly demanded cash from the teller. The staff member walked away from the counter and the man left the bank empty-handed. No-one was injured during the incident.
Police were contacted and attended the bank where a crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.
Police canvassed the area and conducted a number of inquiries and about 2.30pm, they located the 55-year-old man nearby.
He was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie police station where he was charged with attempted robbery and demand money with menace.
