Worthy of encore

Port Macquarie's Alex Small is among the students who will perform at the Sydney Opera House and Glasshouse.

FIVE students from this region have been nominated for the state’s Encore HSC Music Concert, which will be held at the Sydney Opera House in March.
The five were among the top one per cent of students in the Year 12 music exams. They are: Alex Small, St Joseph’s Regional College, Port Macquarie; Simon Robinson, St Paul’s College, Kempsey; Finnian Murphy, Melville High, Kempsey; Nathan Hokin, Great Lakes Senior College, Forster/Tuncurry and Stephanie Hill, Gloucester High, Gloucester.
The five students will also be performing in a matinee performance as part of the Bravissimo Concert on 14 February next year at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie, along with 15 selected exemplary students from high schools and colleges across the mid-northern and tablelands regions.
Students who receive Band 6s in music (90 or over out of 100 marks) represent about 750 HSC music students from the 800 high schools in the entire state of NSW.
Bravissimo is the opportunity to showcase the excellence of 20 of these amazing students, which extends across a range of music genres and performance types, from vocal pop performances to jazz and classical solos.
Tickets are selling now through the Glasshouse box office 6581 8888. Book early because the previous two years have understandably been sold out concerts.
