THE Tacking Point Surf Lifesaving Club has been awarded $250,000 in funding to improve facilities as part of the NSW government’s Surf Club Facility Grant Program.
Sport and Recreation Minister Gabrielle Upton and Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams made the announcement.
Tacking Point Surf Lifesaving Club president Pat Staunton said the substantial injection in funds meant they could put into action the building upgrade plans dating back to 1996.
“With the State Government on board to help with financial burden of these upgrades means that we can finally provide access to the facility for members of the community that have mobility restrictions,” he said.
“The upgrade to the club has been long overdue and means that we can bring the facilities up to a modern standard that enables the surf club to provide better beach safety for the community and tourists.”
