A YOUNG man called in to Port Macquarie at the weekend during a long walk to raise about $60,000 for a school in his village in South Sudan.
During his Port Macquarie stop Zacharia Machiuk spoke to local Rotarians, telling them that when he returned to his South Sudan village recently he was the only one of six people his age who were still alive.
While Zacharia was in Port Macquarie, Trevor Gilson presented him with a cheque from local Rotary clubs.
People who would like to make a donation to Zacharia’s Hope Road project can do so by contacting project co-ordinator Janet Dyne at 48/1 Shirley Street, Alexandria, 2015.
Zacharia plans to arrive in Sydney on 27 July.
