THE Hastings Business Enterprise staged another of its popular networking breakfasts last Thursday.
This time the guest speaker was the CEO of the Holiday Coast Credit Union, Neville Parsons.
Mr Parsons has held his current position with the union for more than 25 years and has been a Rotarian for more than 30 years.
He talked of his early years growing up in Yarras, the local family business Parsons Bus Service and his return to Wauchope after university to take up a role as a lawyer before eventually taking up a position with the credit union.
He also shared numerous business insights that help him keep focus on growing the organisation but also as a person. These included events which inspired him and cemented his belief in the customer and the importance of giving back to the community, such as witnessing Bill Gates hand over a cheque for $255 million for polio research and listening to Dolly Parton share the story of her illiterate father and how he inspired her to establish a literacy foundation.
The next item on the event calendar is the Port Chamber AGM and combined networks Economic Development Strategy Forum which will be held today. Please go to www.portchamber.com.au for more information about this free event.
The annual boardroom lunch where National Australia Bank chief economist Rob Henderson will be the guest speaker is on 29 October. Mr Henderson will speak on the topic ‘The Economy in 2014: Challenges, Risks and Outlook’.
The chamber welcomes new members and would like to see even more local businesses supporting events.
“Please come along to a business event and join a local business organisation like the chamber or HBEN,” executive officer Lisa McPherson said.
“Whatever you do, get pro-active in your business and take part in shaping the future of the Hastings.”
