PORT Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club has had a long tradition of Nippers on Sunday mornings and on Sunday 13 October it continued for the 51st year, with Flynns Beach flooded with more than 250 Nippers of all ages and their parents.
Junior activities chairman Glen Towle said that, despite the tough conditions because of Saturday’s nor’easter, they had an amazing start to the season.
“The morning kicked off with a short orientation then straight down onto the beach to start the season’s training,” he said.
“The energy was high and laughs were plentiful and it was a great way to start a new season. There was a great atmosphere among the Nippers and their families.”
For those unable to attend the first training day the club has scheduled a twilight afternoon this Saturday 19 October. The amended training day will start at 2pm with sign on at 1.45pm.
