Lovelorn boys live it up

When love came to port - restaurant manager Stuart and vet Shahid answered the call.

HOPEFULLY there were no animal emergencies in Port Macquarie on Tuesday night because just about every vet in town was probably gathered together watching television – well that was the plan.
Affable local vet Shahid, 25, turned up on television on Tuesday night in the episode of NBN’s reality dating show When Love Comes to Town, which was shot in the town last December.
“I didn’t find true love,” he said, “but I did have a lot of fun.
“My family were probably a little bit surprised about me being on a reality dating show,” he said.
“But they would never have been surprised about me going on a television show – I’ve always been an extroverted kind of person.”
Described as “a country boy through and through, of Indian/Kenyan heritage, Shahid is the middle son of five brothers who are very close but live in various parts of NSW” was one of two Port Mcquarie men to feature on the show, along with restaurant manager Stuart, also 25.
He said he loved the whole television experience and would do it again – though it wasn’t his idea in the first place.
“My flatmate signed me up,” he said.
“Actually, he signed us both up and I got in and he didn’t.”
He said after thinking about it he decided that it was “too good an opportunity not to do it”.
“And I had that much fun doing it – I definitely enjoyed it – it was something different and a bit of life experience!” Shahid said.
