UNDEFEATED all season, Wauchope proved it was the king of rugby league in the region with a commanding grand final victory on Sunday.
The Blues proved too slick for Old Bar Beach, in front of a big crowd at Lank Bain Oval, hammering them 49-16.
Things looked a little shaky for the home side early, as Old Bar Beach flew out of the blocks to lead 10-0 early, but once Wauchope hit the scoreboard it was no longer a contest.
In fact, the Pirates had to resort to fighting to stay in the game, a move that backfired quickly as two players were sin-binned in the opening half.
Halfback Aaron Ison led the way for the Blues, scoring one try and setting up numerous others in a dominant display.
Justin Laurie and Beau White scored two tries apiece for the home side, while Billy Berne, Jordan Galloway, Nick McCabe and Sam Watts also crossed the line.
Although most expected Wauchope to win and win well, the sheer dominance of the Blues impressed and surprised many of the once-a-year spectators.
