Upgrade for registry

RENOVATIONS have begun to transform the Port Macquarie Motor Registry into a new Service NSW centre.
Work began on Monday and the new centre is due to open in late November.
During the renovation period, customers can carry out their Roads and Maritime Services transactions at a temporary registry set up at 52 Lord Street, Port Macquarie.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said the closure would enable the Port Macquarie Motor Registry to transform into a new customer friendly service centre which would be open for extended trading hours and offer a wider range of services.
“When the new service centre opens the people of Port Macquarie will benefit, with extended opening hours on weekdays and Saturdays and the ability to book appointments,” Mrs Williams said.
Service NSW deputy chief Steve Griffin said when the service centre reopened, customers would be able to carry out a range of transactions, such as renewing their driver licences or vehicle registrations, obtaining owner builder permits and birth certificates.
“There are now four service centres open across NSW – Kiama, Tweed Heads, Haymarket in the Sydney CBD and Orange. Other sites due to open soon include Dubbo, Tamworth, Parramatta and Wynyard,” he said.
“Customer response to the service centres has been very encouraging and we look forward to offering an enhanced customer experience to the residents and businesses of Port Macquarie in November.
“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience during the renovation.”
