THE Bonny Hills Holiday Park, refurbished at a cost of more than $1.7 million, has been officially re-opened by Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams.
The park on the headland at Bonny Hills, operated by the NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust, has undergone significant improvements over the past year.
“This is a perfect location for a holiday and now with the upgrade of facilities and panoramic ocean views I am sure it will continue to be a popular destination,” Ms Williams said.
“Congratulations to the NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust for having the vision and dedication to undertake these improvements, and I wish them every success in the future.”
North Coast Holiday Parks marketing manager Jenny Sewell said the feedback about the upgrades had been extremely positive and they should make the park even more attractive to holidaymakers.
“Visitor nights have increased over 15 per cent in the last 12 months with occupancy up 13.40 per cent and this is just an indication of what we hope is to come,” she said.
“The increase in income for local business generated by the park based information provided by the CRVA is up 22 per cent to more than half a million.”
Improvements include a new amenities building, new cabins, beach tents, a new camp kitchen, barbecue areas and pathways as well as a new coastal walkway for community use that opens up the foreshore area and takes advantage of spectacular views from the escarpment.
Funding for the project came from a combination of loans from the Public Reserve Management Fund as well as revenue from trust assets.
