THE Friends of Kooloonbung have started a campaign to have a boardwalk in the nature park repaired by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Spokesperson Colin Hardwick said a fire destroyed 100 metres of boardwalk in the Port Macquarie reserve on the eastern side in October this year.
“Despite repeated requests nothing has been done to either clear the burnt boardwalk or repair the walk,” he said.
“The Friends of Kooloonbung are very concerned about the safety of the damaged boardwalk and Christmas holidays starting next week and a major part of the Kooloonbung experience has not been made available for the general public.
“Suggestions have been made to reduce the cost of replacement, but nothing has been heard from council in response to two emails and council’s response is disappointing.”
