PORT Macquarie Historical Society will receive $5000 towards its work promoting the region’s history under the Federal Government’s Grants to Voluntary Environment, Sustainability and Heritage Organisations.
“We all benefit from the hard work and dedication of our environment and heritage volunteers. The government is committed to supporting their work through the program,” Federal Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie said.
“I congratulate the historical society on its successful funding application and I know it will certainly go a long way towards the work they do in promoting our local heritage.
“With more than 140 members, the Port Macquarie Historical Society seeks to collect, conserve, research and interpret the history and heritage of Port Macquarie and the Hastings region, and to provide opportunities for its volunteer members to participate in pursuing this mission.
“The federal program supports eligible community-based, not-for-profit organisations by providing assistance with ongoing administrative costs such as volunteer training, paying phone bills or buying a new computer.”
