A STUDENT from Port Macquarie TAFE has won the Youth Week 2014 design competition.
Congratulating Merinda on her win, Oxley MP Andrew Stoner said he was excited that this talented young artist now had the opportunity to have her artwork seen by hundreds of thousands of young people.
“I hope Merinda’s success will inspire more young people across the Mid-North Coast to get involved in Youth Week activities from 4 to 13 April and use their talents to make a difference in their communities,” he said.
Merinda, a graphic design student, will receive $1000 in prize-money and said she was very excited to have won.
“I am absolutely delighted to have won the Youth Week NSW Design Competition, it was certainly unexpected,” she said.
“My design seeks to show the strength and diversity of youth in NSW and features a collection of hands reaching out together – they represent a positive collaboration of cultures, beliefs and attitudes among Australia’s Youth,” she said.
