SOME of the Hastings most outstanding senior citizens have been recognised for their achievements.
NSW Senior Week Local Achievements awards were presented to several people by Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams at Port Panthers on Monday.
They included Brian Buckett, who for many years has made an outstanding contribution to our local community as a leader and advocate for various organisations, Jill King and Sandra Gordon, plus local organisations Lifeline and Hastings District Respite Care.
Congratulating the award winners, Ms Williams said the awards were the community’s way of saying thankyou to seniors for their enthusiasm and impressive commitment to their community.
“It is wonderful to see so many recognised during 2014 NSW Seniors Week,” Ms Williams said.
“Seniors deserve recognition for the important contribution they make across so many different areas of community life.
“These people and organisations have demonstrated great commitment and kindness in our local community.
“The seniors awarded represent the diversity of talent, generosity of spirit and limitless energy of seniors in the Port Macquarie community.”
The awards were presented on Monday at Port Panthers, the venue for the Sensational Seniors’ Expo, which was also staged on Monday.
