On track to recovery

The burnt boardwalk - not a good look in one of Port Macquarie's most central parks, the Friends of Kooloonbung believe.

THE Friends of Kooloonbung Nature Park have complained about the length of time it has taken Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to replace a boardwalk in the reserve which was damaged in a fire last year.
A spokesman for Friends of Koolonbung said members had spent many hours clearing the area of weeds and remarkable regrowth had occurred since the fire, which happened in October.
However, five months on council had still not replaced the boardwalk.
Asked for comment on the delay, a spokesperson from council said work was actually scheduled to get underway shortly – in fact, as soon as next week.
One hundred metres of track near the Begonia Place/Wyandra Crescent entry to the park would be closed while this was going on, from Monday 24 to Friday 28 March, weather permitting.
