HASTINGS residents and visitors will get a rare opportunity to hear the most beautiful of musical instruments played by one of the world’s best harpists next month.
Wauchope Arts Councils is hosting a performance by the world-renowned harpist Judy Kadar, who is visiting Australia to participate in the World Harp Congress in Sydney, which is being held in the southern Hemisphere for the first time.
Kempsey and Wauchope are the only places where Judy will perform in Australia outside Sydney.
Born in Hungary, educated in New York and now living in Germany, Judy founded and is co-directing the ensemble Collage, a forum for early music in Berlin, which specialises in harp music of the 13th through 17th centuries. She also conceived, initiated and directed early music festivals in the US and Germany.
The solo performance in Wauchope will be held at the Wauchope Community Hall, Oxley Lane, on Friday 1 August, at 8pm.
Tickets will be on sale at the door for $20. For reservations phone 6583 9676.
