All hands on deck

You'll be able to try sailing on a variety of different boats.

EVER pictured yourself as the next Jimmy Spithill taking on the world in a multimillion-dollar catamaran or the next Tom Slingsby claiming gold at the Olympics?
Well, now’s your chance to find out if you have what it takes.
This Sunday is the Port Macquarie Sailing Club’s Annual Try Sailing Day hosted by Yachting Australia, where everyone can come down and give sailing a go for free.
From 9am, there will be boats galore on the river to try your hand at, with experienced crews on hand to point you in the right direction. Sailing is a sport for young and old, where men and women harness the wind for the glory of winning gold or simply to pass the day away, so kids bring your parents and parents bring your kids to have fun day out by all.
If you decide you’d like to learn to sail, the next step is the sail training mornings the club will be running in the near future. Don’t worry if you don’t have a boat, because the club has numerous boats you’ll be able to perfect your skills on.
Come down this Sunday from 9am at McInherney Park and give sailing a go. Who knows you might be the next Olympic hero.
