Clean sweep for school

NEXT time you drive past Port Macquarie High School, check it out – it might just look a little cleaner and brighter than normal.
Thirty-six students, teachers, ancillary staff, Landcare volunteers, retired teachers, parent volunteers and a former student turned out for a special clean-up day, spending several hours on pressure hosing concrete areas, pruning trees and shrubs, planting garden beds and generally improving the playgrounds.
Landcare arborist Rex Moir and his wife Jan assisted and gave professional advice on plants and trees and the school’s new canteen manager Sarah Younger, assisted by Karen Litchfield, catered for the occasion with refreshments and brunch.
The day was so successful that the volunteers are now planning to make it an annual event.
