GET set to wine, dine and eat your way through the weekend, with the Tastings on Hastings Festival in full swing in Port Macquarie on Sunday.
The culmination of a month of activities, the festival will be held on two sites, one Town Green and the other Clarence Street, and feature more than 100 food, produce and beverage stalls, plus a myriad of family entertainment.
The president of the Port Macquarie Tourism Association, Janette Hyde, said highlights would include cooking demonstrations by three top chefs and a spaghetti-eating competition, sure to give competitors and onlookers plenty to laugh and cheer about. Heats for this get underway at 11am, 12pm, 12.15pm, 12.45 and 1pm, with the finals at 1.45pm.
“It’s going to be a wonderful family day and a great celebration of local food and wine,” Mrs Hyde said.
“It’s one of the most fun events on our tourism calendar. It doesn’t attract so many people from outside the area to stay here as events like the ironman, but it’s a great day to catch up with family and friends and enjoy our local produce.”
Festival-goers are asked to leave their cars at Westport park and catch the free shuttle buses which will be running regularly into the CBD.
