THE next talk in the Tuesday Talks Winter series being hosted by the Port Macquarie Historical Society will take place early next month.
The second talk in the series will be held on Tuesday 8 July at 10.30am at the Port Macquarie Historical Museum, at 22 Clarence Street.
Heritage architect and heritage adviser to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Stephen Booker will talk about what makes a building heritage and what steps can we take to protect our built heritage.
Port Macquarie Historical Society president Debbie Sommers said Port Macquarie had a rich and unique history. However, most of Port Macquarie’s earliest built heritage had been lost for various reasons.
“Stephen’s talk will highlight the principles of heritage assessment and conservation and give an insight into how we can identify and protect our built heritage into the future,” she said.
“The winter talk series is aimed at promoting local history and heritage to the general public and in this case the importance of our built heritage.
“Stephen spoke last year to a full house and we are expecting a similar response this year. He is passionate about heritage and is a very entertaining speaker. Expect to come away informed and motivated.”
The talks are open to the general public and are free.
The final talk in the series will be held on Tuesday 5 August with Family history in 3D.
