BOOK lovers will be in their element early next month when Rotary stages its annual book sale.
Port Macquarie Rotary expects to have more than 50,000 books and there is an added interest after the Port Macquarie’s last bookstore selling new books closed earlier this year.
The books not sold by the Book Warehouse when they shut their doors have actually been donated to Rotary, and while some have already been sold, many more are upfor sale.
Proceeds from the annual fund-raising sale will go to local charities as well as designated Rotary projects, including the proposed building extensions doubling the size of the Port Macquarie Rotary Lodge.
Rotary volunteers have been hard at work sorting books for more than six months at the Rotary Community Centre, located on Hastings River Drive.
The books include just about everything you can think of: hard and soft-cover fiction, cooking, travel, gardening, art, history and education, as well as lots and lots of children’s books. DVDs, CDs and vinyl records will also be available.
The sale will be held at Port Panthers from Friday 11 April (5pm to 9pm), Saturday 12 April (9am to 8pm) and Sunday 13 April (9am to 12pm).
