LOCAL residents are being encouraged to turn out in force early next month to welcome a busload of single city women as they arrive in Port Macquarie looking for love.
Port Macquarie is one of 10 regional destinations selected for inclusion in a new Nine Network TV series When Love Comes To Town hosted by Natalie Gruzlewski of Getaway and The Farmer Wants a Wife fame.
The bus will visit all 10 destinations, providing the 12 single city girls on board with a chance to meet two local eligible bachelors and experience where they live and work.
The identities of the two local bachelors are being kept under wraps.
The bus will arrive in Port Macquarie on the morning of Monday 2 December after visits to Margaret River, Kangaroo Island, Barossa Valley, Robe, Sale, Cobram and Orange.
After Port Macquarie it will travel to Mt Isa before the finale in Airlie Beach.
Mayor Peter Besseling is urging local residents of all ages to help welcome the bus when it arrives and to cheer on the two local men as they are introduced to the visitors.
He said it was a fantastic promotion for the area and a valuable opportunity to showcase the region as a desirable place to live, learn, work, invest and play.
“This is a great opportunity to promote the Port Macquarie region to a national prime-time audience,” Cr Besseling said.
“This opportunity is also recognition of our community as a significant regional and coastal destination.”
The Port Macquarie episode will screen next year, providing the region with an hour of national airtime.
The council is supporting the official welcome for the bachelors and busload of beauties on the morning of 2 December on the Town Green.
The bus is scheduled to arrive at 7.30am and Cr Besseling is hoping local residents will turn out in force and help give the welcome a distinctly local flavour.
Local surf life-saving clubs and surf schools are encouraged to attend to help create a coastal atmosphere.
When Loves Comes To Town is being promoted as a feel-good romance series on the Nine Network featuring people genuinely looking for a life-long partner. It is not a competition and there is no prize-money involved.
Extras are encouraged to just turn up on the day with filming scheduled to commence at 7am at the river end of Horton Street.
