LEAD-UP events to the 2014 Saltwater Freshwater Festival started in Port Macquarie on Friday.
Former Senator Aden Ridgeway attended a cocktail function at the Glasshouse to promote the event, which will be staged in Kempsey on Australia Day. The event rotates between Port Macquarie and other Mid North Coast towns and next year is Kempsey’s turn.
Headline acts at the 2014 festival will include country music icon Troy Cassar-Daley and Shellie Morris, whose music speaks of strength, pride and triumph over adversity.
Mr Ridgeway spoke on the topic A Connected Australia – Discussion on Building a Culture of Unity and how we can all play a part in working towards a reconciled Australia.
Other guests included the CEO of the Kempsey Aboriginal Land Council and chairperson of the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance, Jo-Anne Kelly. Port Macquarie’s Uncle Bill O’Brien also gave his popular welcome to country speech.
