Touring Parliament … Dr Gillespie is pictured with the students during their visit to Parliament.

MORE THAN 70 students, teachers and parents from Wauchope Public School visited Parliament House during their annual excursion to Canberra.
Students spent the morning taking part in the Parliamentary Education Office’s education program, learning more about how the Australian Parliament works and visited both the House of Representatives and Senate chambers.
At the end of their formalities, the students were treated to hospitality before being met by Federal Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie, who spoke to the group about his first few days in Parliament.
The group was also given a special tour by Dr Gillespie of some of the working areas, including a visit to the Nationals party room.
“The program put together by the Parliamentary Education Office is a very popular one for schools,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Many schools take advantage of this during their school excursions to Canberra.
“If a school visit coincides with a Parliamentary sitting day and if a break in my Parliamentary duties allows me to, I will always take the opportunity to meet with the students, teachers and parents of schools in my electorate.”
