Speaking up on violence

Mid North Coast local health district chief executive Stewart Dowrick and Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor Peter Besseling sign the White Ribbon Day oath.

MID North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) hosted a White Ribbon Day event at Port Macquarie Base Hospital on Monday to support the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
MNCLHD chief executive Stewart Dowrick said raising awareness of violence against women would assist in generating positive social change.
“We can all play a vital role in raising awareness of this issue and preventing violence in our community. We need to be the drivers of a positive change in reducing violence against women,” Mr Dowrick said.
A White Ribbon Day barbecue at the hospital brought together men and women who supported the initiative and were committed to bringing about positive change.
Attendees included Port Macquarie-Hastings mayor Peter Besseling.
