Lifesavers ramp it up

Tacking Point stars in action - Mitchell Bailey, Sam Woodham, Max Atherton, Josh Hegarty, Isaac Robinson, Lachlan Hawkins, Hunter Leishman and Chris Findlay.

WHILE many of us have been taking it easy and relaxing over the summer, surf lifesavers have been doing the very opposite and training even harder than normal, with Tacking Point senior and junior lifesavers (nippers) among those competing in major carnivals.
Members excelled in the country titles for clubs from outside the metropolitan region held at Mollymook earlier in January, and are now gearing up for the state titles at Umina Beach in March.
To qualify to compete in a carnival, all cadet and senior competitors must complete a minimum of 25 hours of patrols in the season prior to competing.
Other local clubs doing the carnival circuit include Port Macquarie and Bonny Hills/Wauchope.
