THE SkillsLink Training College in Port Macquarie has formed a partnership with the Nambucca Valley Phoenix Disability Service.
The move will enable SkillsLink to be able to offer advance skills in all sorts of activities to provide better care for people living with disability, ageing and mental health challenges.
It also comes with another partnership with the nationally recognised Centre for Disability Studies at Sydney University.
SkillsLink and Phoenix will run workshops for people living with challenges, their families and carers.
The emphasis will be on person-centred planning and training disability support workers in more person-centred approaches.
“This is a major new development,” Phoenix CEO Tony Bennett said.
“We are excited to be working with SkillsLink and the Centre for Disability Studies because we know there is a shared value system which puts the people receiving the care at the centre of everything.”
