STAFF from not-for-profit groups who rely on volunteers for part of their labour force will learn the latest do’s and don’ts at a forum in Port Macquarie on Monday 4 November.
On that day, the Port Macquarie Volunteer Centre will host the first volunteering forum to be held on the Mid North Coast.
“While the forum is really geared for people who manage volunteers, interested volunteers are still welcome to attend,” volunteer centre co-ordinator Beck Miles said.
“The forum is really about bringing all different levels of expertise together to hear about the future of volunteering, although some of it will be of general interest.”
The forum will be presented by guest speakers from the Office of Communities, Volunteering Unit Department of Education and Communities and the Centre for Volunteering.
The event is free and will be held from 9am to 11am, followed by the NSW Volunteer Awards Ceremony. Both will be held at Panthers Port Macquarie.
Dignataries attending the awards ceremony include TV star Paul Duncan, who is the official awards ceremony ambassador, and local State MP Leslie Williams and Federal MP David Gillespie.
The Port Macquarie Volunteer Centre currently has positions available for volunteers with more than 80 not-for-profit organisations, ranging from aged care to admin, looking after animals and helping teach disabled children to sail.
You can register for the forum at www.pmncinfo@midcoast.com.au, where you can also find out about volunteering. Phone inquiries are also welcome on 6584 1914.
