Many of the letters to the Independent have debated the addition of fluoride in our water. Many scientists agree that fluoride is a poisonous industrial waste. It is a by-product of weapons manufacturers, aluminium industry and big pharmaceutical companies who unload industrial waste cheaply by using the government to distribute it for them in our water supply.
It is also used as a pesticide, insecticides and rodenticides as well as toothpaste.
It is thought to be responsible for the rising rate in Autism in our community and, on a worldwide scale, Autism Spectrum Diagnoses has increased in the last few decades. In a recent study, one in 88 kids was found to have autism in the United States. Mercury and fluoride have been thought by scientists to have caused this syndrome. Fluoride poisoning is also linked to altzheimers and other disorders.

As an aside, in one of John Byatt’s statements, he says that humans have caused 28 per cent of the CO2 in the atmosphere. (Misinformed, October 25) Carbon Dioxide has always been and still is less that one per cent of atmospheric gases.
