In reference to Port Independent, January 27 – Climate Crisis.
Stephen Lockhart, Presenter for The Climate Project, tells us that “The debate on global warming is over” and “Consensus this strong is rare in science”.
What Mr Lockhart fails to tell us is that he is only recently back from being a representative for Australia at The Climate Project Australia Pacific Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he hoped “to chew the fat with dignitaries such as Ex VP Al Gore” (Port News – 31/12/10).
Possibly he arrived back full of hype to the Climate Action Network and Climate Change Australia — Hastings Branch.
The Climate Project is an initiative of the Gore machine, and in Australia has in excess of 400 ‘presenters’ or ‘connectors’ trained by Mr Gore to present material from Mr Gore’s pseudo-science “An Inconvenient Truth” video, book and other material to media, newspapers, schools and clubs.
The phrase — “The debate on global warming is over”, is overused and incorrect, as the funding being expended presently on Climate Change around the world belies this.
Novelist Michael Crichton may have exaggerated when he wrote that “if it’s consensus, it’s not science, if it’s science, it’s not consensus”, but only a bit. Consensus is a political concept, not a scientific one. Michael Crichton was also a climate sceptic.
It would indeed be a crisis, if outside financial and political interests via their agents could dictate loss of freedom of speech of Australian sceptics or any other citizen.
During Australia Day, some of us may have sung the Australian National Anthem Advance Australia Fair “Australians all let us rejoice For we are young and free:”
– Do not allow this freedom to be eroded.
