The misguided supporters of Julia Gillard’s Carbon Tax are unable to produce evidence to support their stance. They attempt to justify their stance by referring to those with opposing views in derogatory terms such as sceptic, and extremists. They should base their case on evidence, not attacking the character of those with opposing views. Most people believe that climates change and they have been doing so for millions of years, they only differ on the actual cause or reason for climate change.
Supporters such as Stan Percy criticise those who exercise their democratic right to express individual opinions. Many supporters of global warming are blinded by the Gillard rhetoric and propaganda but never produce any evidence to support their stance. Before attacking those with opposing views, they should examine the big picture and not restrict themselves to reading material which supports their illogical stance. Evidence such as that listed below should be considered.
(1) Global temperatures for January, 2011, were at the long term average.
(2) La Nina and El Nino have influenced weather patterns since before the present debate on Global Warming.
(3) Penny Sackett, one of Australia’s Leading Scientists has stated there is no concrete evidence to prove human activity is responsible for global warming. She also warned that supporters of the theory must not overstate, misrepresent or mislead, they should rely only on fact.
(4) Tim Flannery, the government’s No 1 spin doctor, stated that if all industry was to close, it would take 1000 years before any impact on climate was noticed.
(5) Nicholas Stern and Ross Garnaut, those on whom the government rely to support their case, are not environmental scientists, but economists.
(6) The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has noted a decline in frequency of Australian cyclones.
(7) Copenhagen and Cancun climate change junkets resulted in no worldwide agreement on Climate change. The only agreement to arise from Cancun was that the Gillard Government will contribute 10 per cent of their carbon tax to the UN Green Fund, this equates to some $1 billion a year (this is based on the tax raising more than $10 billion a year).
(8) 30,000 environmental scientists including 10,000 with PHDs warned both the US and UN to proceed with caution on climate change.
(9) Some four years ago, Bob Brown warned that global warming was responsible for the drought, now he is blaming the coal industry for the floods and cyclones, can’t have it both ways.
(10) The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have been forced to admit they falisified sections of their reports to favour their arguement.
(12) Many of those scientists supporting the claims of global warming are employed by governments who have an interests in the promotion of the theory.
(13) Many of the supporters have previously warned of the dangers of an impending ice age and a dangerous hole in the ozone layer, both are no longer on the horizon.
(14) China, USA, India, Brazil, South Africa are not implementing a carbon tax, but rely on innovation.
(15) A carbon tax will destroy industry, jobs, and our standard of living. A study by King Juan Carlos University concluded that supporting green jobs via renewable energy is not economically sound policy, and it destroys more jobs than it creates. For each green job created, two other jobs are lost and only one in 10 being permanent.
(16) Al Gore was forced by a British Court to withdraw a number of his claims in his book “an inconvenient truth”.
(17) Of the 10 American states which initially signed on to a green economy, only one remains, that being the bankrupt state of California.
(18) Contrary to claims Europe has reduced their carbon footprint, all they have done is force industry off shore to China and the overall pollution is now worse than ever.
(19) Claims by Government that their carbon tax is a charge on big polluters, are not true. As sure as night follows day, any new tax will be passed on in full to the consumer. The so-called big polluters will not be the ones to pay but working families and pensioners will pay the cost in full and for absolutely no change to the world’s climate.
(20) Before imposing any carbon tax, government and their supporters should look at economies such as Portugal, Spain, Greece, Ireland, and Califorina all of which are on the verge of bankruptcy.
(21) The carbon market in America has collapsed.
(22) This tax has nothing to do with global warming but all to do with raising government revenue.
Those supporting this inflationary and destructive tax should think twice before giving full support to this tax for, once imposed, it will be almost impossible to repeal and Australian industry, jobs and standard of living will be destroyed for all time. Instead of being the envy of the world, we will become a third world country, unable to produce suffiicent goods and food for our own needs.
